Rolex Datejust steel/gold Ref. 1601 with white "sigma" dial and 18k gold fluted bezel
The Rolex Datejust 1601 Two-Tone with a White Dial is a true vintage classic. It was produced from approximately 1960 until 1977. While it looks very similar to the newer 16013, the reference 1601 has a few unique vintage traits that collectors love. The true matte white dials on a 1601 are much rarer than the common silver or champagne dials. Over time, many of these original white dials have aged into beautiful cream or ivory colors. Sigma Dial: Look at the very bottom of the dial near "T Swiss T". If you see two small Greek letters (\(\sigma \)), it means the hour markers are solid gold. Movement: Rolex Caliber 1575. This is a legendary, workhorse movement. However, it does not have a quickset date feature. You must turn the hands past midnight repeatedly to change the date.
