The story

Breitling’s Chronomat 44 Patrouille de France, ref. AB01109e.C886, carries an aviation heritage. The modern Chronomat arrived in 1984 following Breitling’s development of a mechanical chronograph for Italy’s Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team; this French edition continues that association with formation flying. It belongs to the in-house movement generation: Breitling’s Calibre B01 debuted in the Chronomat in 2009. This automatic, COSC-certified chronometer combines an integrated chronograph, column-wheel control and a vertical clutch with a 70-hour power reserve. Dating to circa 2013–2014, this example features a “Metallica Blue” dial with the Patrouille de France logo at 12 o’clock. Its 44mm stainless steel case, approximately 17mm thick, is paired with a blue Diver Pro rubber strap. The dimensions give it substantial presence on the wrist, while the blue dial and strap lend continuity to its distinctly French flying signature. It is offered in Very Good condition. The watch comes with its box, appealing to a collector drawn to Breitling’s aerobatic associations or a wearer seeking a mechanical chronograph with character.
