Rolex Datejust II

The story

Introduced in 2009 as a larger alternative to the traditional 36mm Datejust, the Rolex Datejust II brought a more substantial presence to the collection. Produced between 2009 and 2016 and now discontinued, ref. 116334 combines a durable stainless-steel case with an elegant, fixed, fluted 18ct white-gold bezel: Rolex’s “White Rolesor” construction. Its 41mm diameter, thicker lugs and bolder, chunkier profile distinguish it from its successor, the Datejust 41. Inside, the self-winding Rolex calibre 3136 provides a 48-hour power reserve and Paraflex shock absorbers. This example, listed as 2017, pairs a black dial with a steel Oyster bracelet. The dark dial gives a quiet counterpoint to the white-gold fluting, whose edges catch the light as the wrist turns. Its substantial proportions give it a definite presence on the wrist, equally at ease beside a shirt cuff or a rolled sleeve. Presented in excellent condition, it was serviced in 2025 by our in-house watchmaker.
