The story

The Rolex Lady-Datejust ref. 69173 carries forward a line introduced in 1957, preserving its traditional 26 mm proportions. Following the earlier ref. 6917 generation, it brought sapphire crystal and the automatic Rolex calibre 2135 to the two-tone Lady-Datejust. This chronometer-certified movement offers quickset date adjustment and stop-seconds, practical details that make setting a small watch straightforward. A yellow-gold fluted bezel and Cyclops date magnifier complete the familiar design. This example, dated 1980–1985, pairs a blue dial with a steel-and-yellow-gold case and a two-tone Jubilee bracelet. The bracelet’s five-piece links alternate gold centres with steel outer links, echoing the contrast between the cool blue dial and warmer metal. At 26 mm, the watch offers a compact presence on the wrist, with the fluted bezel catching light as the hand moves. Condition is described as average; the date of its last service is unknown.
